Foundation
Non-negotiable prerequisites. Nothing in Phase 1 works without these. Do not skip ahead. Do not do these in parallel with Phase 1 actions. Foundation first, always.

Mediafire: remove public link from Linktree. Keep as private Ko-fi Digger audio host only. Update Linktree with YouTube, Substack, Ko-fi once live.
Handle Situation
nerymusic is taken on Instagram — keep @nerymusic1. The `1` is not ideal but don't move to something worse. Clean handles already secured: nerymusic on Bandcamp ✓, Mixcloud ✓, Linktree ✓. To create: YouTube @beatbybeatradio, Substack beatbybeat.substack.com, Ko-fi ko-fi.com/beatbybeat. Update Linktree with all new platforms once live. Remove Mediafire public link from Linktree — it becomes Ko-fi Digger exclusive.
Logo Strategy
Full version (with Rádio Oxigénio): legitimate credibility in Lisboa context. Keep for FM materials, local press, broadcaster contexts. The XFM/Voxx/Oxigénio lineage makes this name meaningful.
Clean version (without broadcaster): for international contexts — Mixcloud, YouTube, Ko-fi, Substack, Spotify artist profile, international media kit. Commission when budget allows (~€50-100). Don't let this block Phase 1.
Gather Everything
One folder: all episode audio files + tracklists + both logo versions + both bios (show bio + artist bio) + all release links (Spotify, Bandcamp, Mixcloud, Podbean). Restrict Mediafire archive — remove from public Linktree, keep the link only for Ko-fi Digger posts. Bookmark: stream.oxigenio.fm — check every Friday during your show slot for live listener count.
Two Bios — Both Needed, Both in English
Asset Checklist
- All episode audio files gathered in one folder
- All tracklists collected (text files or spreadsheet)
- Logo: full version (with Rádio Oxigénio) — for local/PT contexts
- Logo: clean version (without broadcaster) — for international contexts (commission when budget allows)
- Logo: square version — black on white AND white on black
- Show bio written and saved (English)
- Artist bio written and saved (English)
- Mediafire archive link removed from public Linktree — saved privately for Ko-fi Digger posts
- Linktree updated: add Substack, Ko-fi, YouTube once live. Remove public Mediafire link.
- Spotify for Artists: update bio, city, links, pin Beat By Beat Goodies playlist
- Bookmarked: stream.oxigenio.fm — check every Friday during show slot
- Bookmarked: oxigeniopodcasts.podbean.com — your show's podcast feed
- Two separate emails confirmed: beatbybeatradioshow@gmail.com (promos) + nerymusicbookings@gmail.com (bookings)
Infrastructure
Five parallel tracks, each building your presence from the ground up. Do these in the order listed — Mixcloud first, then Substack, then YouTube, then Audius, then Ko-fi. Each one sets up the next.
1.1 — Mixcloud: Restart Weekly Upload
This is the non-negotiable. Every Friday, without exception. 20–30 minutes per week.
Export your English version after the live show
You already do this. Keep doing it. Same process as before.
Title format
Beat By Beat #296 — Artist / Artist / Artist — use 3-4 of the most recognisable artists from the episode. This is your SEO.
Full tracklist in description
Numbered. Every track. This is your community's most-wanted content and your search discovery engine.
Tags
Every genre represented + key artist names + "radio show" + "jazz" + "electronic" + "hip-hop" + "Ericeira" + "Portugal".
Manage the 10-episode limit
When uploading #297, delete the oldest live episode. Keep the 10 most recent always live. Archive goes to YouTube, not here.
⚠ Do NOT upload archive episodes to Mixcloud. Current only.1.2 — Substack: Launch Your Newsletter
Your owned audience. The only one no platform can take from you. 15–20 minutes per week to write. 30 minutes initial setup.
Setup (one time)
- Go to substack.com — create free account
- Publication name: Beat By Beat — Música Sem Etiqueta
- URL: beatbybeat.substack.com (or closest available)
- Profile image: your square logo
- Write welcome email: one paragraph, explain what subscribers receive and when, link to Mixcloud
Weekly Email Structure — Every Friday Post-Show
[Opening paragraph — 3-5 sentences in your voice. What was the mood? Why did you open with that track? Write like you're talking to a friend.]

1.3 — YouTube: Archive Engine
Your full archive, searchable by every artist name you've ever played. Free, unlimited, permanent. 30 min initial setup. 30-45 min per archive upload (mostly upload time).
How to Create the Video File (Free)
Static image (your square logo, white on black) + audio file = MP4. Use iMovie, QuickTime, DaVinci Resolve (free), or Kapwing online (no software needed). Export as MP4.
Upload Format for Every Episode
| Field | Content |
|---|---|
| Title | Beat By Beat #[number] — Artist / Artist / Artist (Full Episode) |
| Description | Full tracklist + English bio + links to Mixcloud, Substack, Ko-fi |
| Tags | All artist names + genre tags + "radio show" + "Ericeira Portugal" |
| Thumbnail | Your square logo — consistent across ALL episodes |
| Playlist | "Beat By Beat — Full Archive" (create this playlist on setup) |
Content ID claims: accept them. Don't dispute unless fully blocked (rare for your genre).
1.4 — Audius: Cold Storage
Copyright-safe backup archive. Decentralised — no Content ID, no takedowns. Tiny active audience for your genre, but a free, permanent repository. Create account at audius.co, upload full archive, link from bio. Don't invest energy here beyond initial upload. This is a filing cabinet, not a stage.
1.5 — Ko-fi: Launch Your Support Page
Why not immediately: a Ko-fi page pointing to a dormant Mixcloud looks abandoned. Launch once the show is visibly active again.
Pure support. Monthly thank-you post on Ko-fi acknowledging supporters. No further deliverable required — just gratitude.
Full tracklist delivered Thursday night / Friday morning before broadcast. Early private Mixcloud link before the episode goes public. Access to Beat By Beat Goodies playlist (public monthly playlist of show tracks) — same as everyone, but you already knew what was coming.
Everything above, plus: NERY Digging — a private Spotify playlist of what NERY is listening to right now, before it ever reaches the show. Updated whenever, never goes public. The crate before the show. Also: recent back catalogue (6–12 months of English episodes via private Mediafire links), guest mix episodes before YouTube, occasional exclusive DJ set (30-day exclusivity before Bandcamp), extended curatorial show notes.
HOW THE PLAYLISTS + ARCHIVE WORK
Beat By Beat Goodies — public Spotify playlist, updated monthly, tracks played on the show. Free for everyone. Discovery tool. Always public, never gated.
NERY Digging — private Spotify playlist, Ko-fi Diggers only, never goes public. What NERY is listening to right now — before it reaches the show or not. The crate before the show. Updated freely, no fixed schedule.
Episode archive — Mixcloud: 10 most recent (rotating). YouTube: deep archive 2+ years back, free to all. Ko-fi Digger: the gap — last 6–12 months of English episodes via private Mediafire links, nowhere else publicly.
Fees: 0% on one-time tips. 5% on monthly memberships. + Stripe/PayPal ~2.9% + €0.30. No monthly platform fee.
1.6 — Direct Outreach to Superfans
Your most important single action for early Ko-fi conversion. Go to Mixcloud stats → top 20 listeners by minutes. Send each one a personal message — not copy-paste, genuine.
Send 5 per day over 4 days. Not all at once. Adjust message based on responses. 8-12 conversions = €24-€84/month from one afternoon of work.
Social Media
Instagram is your primary social platform. Four content pillars, a clear posting schedule, maximum 4 posts per week. Quality and consistency over volume. Your curatorial voice, made visible.

Four Content Pillars
Pillar 1 — Pre-Show Teaser
Before the show airs. Simple static image or story: your logo + episode number + 3 artist names. No caption needed beyond "Tonight, 9pm, Rádio Oxigénio 102.6FM + oxigenio.fm." Warms up both the FM and stream audience. Post it after you've delivered the show to the station — it's already done, you know what's in it.
Pillar 2 — Tracklist + Upload Post
Your anchor weekly content. Full tracklist as image, carousel, or in caption. One line about the episode mood. Link to Mixcloud in bio. Also post the Substack newsletter link. This aligns with the Monday repeat broadcast — people who missed Friday can catch it now. This is your highest-value regular content for your core audience.
Pillar 3 — Track of the Week / Insistência
One track. Artist name, track title, 2-3 sentences on why you played it or why it won't leave your head. No camera — text over a simple visual, or a plain caption with a strong image. When it's your monthly Insistência, frame it as such: "This track has been in every show I've made this month. The insistência." Your regular listeners recognise this from the broadcast — it becomes a signature format externally too.
Pillar 4 — Archive Flashback
One episode from the archive that aged well. An artist who blew up since you played them. A timely theme. "We played [Artist] back in [year], before [context]. Still one of my favourite episodes." Drives traffic to your YouTube archive. Signals depth and history to new followers who don't know the show has been running since 2017.
Posting Schedule
Maximum 3-4 posts per week. Minimum 2 (Friday pre-show + Monday tracklist). Monday is your primary anchor post — you have more time, and it aligns with the repeat broadcast. Missing Tuesday is fine. Missing Friday or Monday is not.
Archived Posts — What to Restore
Unarchive gradually over 2-3 weeks, not all at once. Restore only posts consistent with the current identity — show-related, music-related, aesthetically coherent. Leave archived anything too personal or off-brand.
Visual Formats — No Camera Required
Model: Somewhere Soul (@somewhere_soul, 941K followers) — same philosophy as Música Sem Etiqueta, built entirely without showing their face. Four formats that work for your format and constraints.
Track Cards
Artist press photo as background. Artist name large, track title below. One sentence — your curatorial voice. Dark overlay, Beat By Beat logo small in corner. Tag the artist and label on every post. A repost from Brownswood, Ninja Tune, or Alfa Mist reaches thousands of exactly your audience. This is your primary organic growth mechanism.
Tracklist Carousel
Full tracklist as scrollable carousel or clean image. Artist name, track title, label — minimal formatting. Saveable, shareable. Your most requested content. Post Monday to align with repeat broadcast. This is your highest-value regular post for core listeners.
Playlist Posts
Beat By Beat Goodies update. Simple graphic: playlist name, track count, one line. Link in bio. Gets saved heavily — people use it as a listening list. Always public — this is a discovery tool, not an exclusive. Ko-fi Diggers have something better: the private NERY Digging playlist — the crate before the show, never available to the public.
Quote / Philosophy Posts
One precise observation about music, a track, or a moment. Dark background, logo small. No face. "Música Sem Etiqueta" as the filter. These build your identity as a curator with a point of view, not just a playlist machine. Distinctive, non-generic, shareable. The Insistência framing works here too — "This track has been in every show I have made this month."
X / Twitter (@nerymusicone) — Real-Time Layer
Keep the handle and keep the strategy simple. X is your immediate, conversational layer. Labels, artists and music journalists still use it. Tagging generates real engagement — you already proved this. Total active time: 30-40 min/week, mostly during and after the show.
Monetisation
By this point: weekly Mixcloud uploads running, Substack newsletter with growing list, YouTube archive building, Ko-fi live, Instagram posting consistently. Now you convert presence into income.
3.1 — Ko-fi First Push
Announce on Mixcloud
Post on your channel page. Link directly to Ko-fi.
Mention on air
During your Friday show — Portuguese version is fine. Those listeners can also support you.
Permanent Substack footer
Add Ko-fi link to every newsletter going forward.
Dedicated Instagram post
Not a begging post — a value post. "Here's what Digger tier supporters get access to." Make it about what they receive, not what you need.
3.2 — Substack Paid Tier
Why wait: launching paid with 50 subscribers gets you 2 paid. Launching with 200 gets you 20. The free list must grow first.
Paid tier: €5/month or €50/year. Access to full tracklist immediately after show (before public post) + occasional deeper curatorial notes on specific episodes. Separate from Ko-fi — different people use different platforms.
3.3 — Sponsorship: First Pitch
Prerequisites Before Approaching Anyone
- 8+ consecutive weekly Mixcloud uploads — proves restart is real and sustained
- Substack with 100+ subscribers
- YouTube with 20+ episodes live
- Ko-fi with at least 10 paying supporters
- Instagram posting consistently for 2+ months

Target Sponsors — In Order of Approachability
Independent Record Labels
Brownswood, Ninja Tune PT distribution, local independent labels. They understand your audience perfectly and have marketing budgets for exactly this.
Ericeira / Lisboa Lifestyle Brands
Surf shops, boutique accommodations, specialty coffee, independent fashion. Geographic and cultural alignment.
Audio Equipment Brands
Headphone companies, turntable brands, audio accessories. Obvious fit, active in DJ/music space.
Portuguese Cultural Institutions
Culturgest, Casa da Música, EDP Cool Jazz, NOS Primavera Sound. Sometimes have media partnership budgets.
Portuguese Craft / Independent Food Brands
Lifestyle alignment with your Ericeira base. Uma Vida Foods, specialty import brands.
Growth
Once the infrastructure is stable and monetisation is running, these moves expand your reach, activate dormant relationships, and create cultural moments around the show.
4.1 — Spotify Artist Profile: Activate It
You have 101 Spotify followers and a real release catalogue. Your artist profile is dormant. Actions: update your Spotify for Artists bio with the current artist bio. Add your current city (Ericeira). Add links to Instagram and Mixcloud. Pin Beat By Beat Goodies playlist to your profile — it's already there, just unpinned. This costs nothing and makes your Spotify profile work as a discovery surface for both your music and your show.
4.2 — Beat By Beat Goodies Playlist
Two playlists, two clear purposes.
Beat By Beat Goodies — public, monthly, tracks played on last month's shows. Always free, always public. Resume updates immediately. Update description with current links (Substack, Ko-fi). Update Linktree with current playlist link.
NERY Digging — private, Ko-fi Diggers only, never public. What you're listening to right now — pre-show, unfiltered, personal. The crate before the show. Update it freely when you find something worth sharing. Share the private link via Ko-fi supporter-only post each time you update it.
4.3 — Milestone Episode #350
You're at #346 on Podbean. Episode #350 is weeks away. Plan it now: special episode, guest, archive context. Longer Substack piece on 8+ years of Beat By Beat. Pitch to Blitz and Rimas e Batidas — "Lisboa show reaches episode 350, 8 years of independent music broadcasting." Announce Ko-fi publicly as part of this moment. This is your best organic press opportunity in years.
4.4 — Live Event
One listening party/DJ set per year. Lisboa record shop (Flur, Carbono, Louie Louie) or Ericeira boutique venue. Ticket €5-10, capacity 50-80. You curate and play live — the same voice that makes the show work, in a room. Promoted through Beat By Beat channels and NERY artist channels simultaneously. One well-executed event builds more than three mediocre ones.
4.5 — New Music as NERY
Your last production was the Stereossauro remix (2023) and the Dead End collaboration. You don't need to be in release mode constantly — but even one new track or remix per year keeps the artist profile active and gives the show a story to tell. When you do release: Beat By Beat is the perfect promotional vehicle. You play your own track on the show, the newsletter covers it, the Goodies playlist features it. The show and the artist career cross-promote naturally.
4.6 — Bandcamp: Exclusive DJ Sets
When you produce an occasional exclusive DJ set for Ko-fi Diggers, give it 30-day exclusivity there, then release to Bandcamp as pay-what-you-want. Your existing Bandcamp (nerymusic.bandcamp.com) already has your release catalogue — it should also be the home for these exclusive sets once they go public. This keeps your Bandcamp active between label releases.
4.7 — Beat By Beat Compilation Vol. 1
You have 346 episodes of documented taste. A curated compilation — 15-20 tracks you have championed on the show, sequenced as a coherent journey — is a real product. Model: Somewhere Soul Rituals Vol. 1 (RE:WARM Records, July 2025, vinyl + digital). You can self-release via nerymusic.bandcamp.com or pursue a label relationship. Action now: start a private list called "Beat By Beat: Música Sem Etiqueta Vol. 1" — artists you have played who would fit, who represent the show's sound world. Build it quietly. When the infrastructure is running and Ko-fi has supporters, this becomes your first major product moment and press story.
The Combined Media Kit Pitch
That is not a small radio show host asking for a favour. That is a credentialled artist with an international audience, a specific cultural identity, and a documentable track record. Lead with the full picture every time.
Weekly Rhythm
This is what a normal week looks like once everything is running. Designed around sustainable effort — not a content machine. The archive uploads are optional and asynchronous. Everything else is passive once set up.
Metrics
Check these on the first of every month without fail. These numbers tell you whether the strategy is working and where to adjust. Don't obsess daily — monthly is enough.
Income
Conservative, realistic ranges based on consistent but imperfect execution. The upper end requires all phases working. The lower end is achievable with just Ko-fi and basic consistency. Health setbacks may affect timelines — that's accounted for.
Don'ts
Common mistakes that will waste your limited energy, dilute your brand, or damage your credibility with the audience you've spent 8 years building.
Launch everything in week 1Sequence matters. Foundation before monetisation. Rushing creates an incomplete, inconsistent impression.
Post an "I'm back" announcementJust be back. The work speaks. Apology posts signal insecurity and remind people you were gone.
Upload all archive to Mixcloud at onceYou have 10 slots. Use them for current episodes only. Archive goes to YouTube and Audius.
Approach sponsors before 8 weeks of consistencyYou'll waste the opportunity. A dormant profile kills any pitch before it lands.
Post in Portuguese on Beat By Beat profilesThe international English identity must be consistent. Your PT audience has Oxigénio and Podbean.
Launch paid Substack before 150 free subscribersThe conversion rate won't justify the complexity at that scale.
Create a TikTok accountYour format and audience are not there. It would cost energy for zero return.
Pay for Instagram promotionNot yet. Organic first. Paid amplification only works once you have content that converts.
